Vancouver Spill Training

Were you frustrated by the bungled response to the English Bay oil spill? Want to do something practical to help? Come to a free community workshop led by experts to learn how to get safely involved in oil spill response and demand better oil spill planning from our leaders.

Oil spills in your backyard – a community training with Dr. Riki Ott

Saturday, June 6th, 9 AM – 4 PM

St. James Community Square, Vancouver

The bungled response to the English Bay fuel oil spill revealed serious problems with our oil spill planning, response and available resources, and served as a wake-up call to Georgia Strait communities facing the threat of ever increasing tanker traffic.

Join us for a free full day community training by Exxon Valdez survivor and internationally renowned oil spill expert and author, Dr. Rikki Ott. Dr.Ott will engage participants in an oil spill scenario to think about ways to minimize harm to workers, the public, and the environment, and discuss ways for people to become safely involved in oil spill response and effectively involved in oil spill contingency planning.
