Books that matter

Watershed Sentinel Books is the fledgling book-publishing arm of the non-profit Watershed Sentinel Educational Society, longtime publisher of BC’s award-winning, “scrappy” environmental magazine, the Watershed Sentinel.

As a non-profit we are not beholden to corporate shareholders or the profit motive – and so, we publish as we see fit! Our focus is on critical socioeconomic, democratic and environmental issues that are under-exposed in the mainstream media environment.

All of our books are printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled FSC-certified paper.

Politically Incorrect: How Canada Lost Its Way and the Simple Path Home

Author: Mair, Rafe
Publisher: Watershed Sentinel Books, Comox, Canada
Year Published: 2017
Pages: 169 pp including index, foreword by Mark Hume
ISBN: 978-0-9953286-2-4
Softcover | $20 $14 CAD + shipping

Part memoir, part history, part constitutional analysis and part pure Rafe, Politically Incorrect: How Canada Lost Its Way and the Simple Path Home touches on, among other things, how Canada’s “responsible government” undermines democracy, and what to do about it – the “Mair Solution.”

Sadly, the BC politician, broadcaster, author, advocate and speaker-of-truth-to-power passed away while the book was at the printers. As his wife Wendy Conway-Mair says, “he wrote with passion about our failed Canadian democracy … the loss of freedom in journalism [and] the role of the powerful fossil fuel industry. I think he hoped that with the completion of this book he could rest somewhat in peace.”
