Harper’s $3.4 Million Arctic PR Trips Not Worth Taxpayer’s Money

Following the disclosure of the cost of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s annual Arctic trips by a Toronto Star report, Jessica Wilson, Head of Greenpeace Canada’s Arctic campaign, said:

“How depressingly ironic that as Harper is billing Canadian taxpayers $3.4 million for his PR trips to the Arctic, some of our northernmost communities are scrounging for food in dumpsters. If our prime minister truly cared about making Arctic prosperity his legacy, he would take that money and put it back into the communities that need it, and focus on protecting this region from destructive industry instead of exploiting it for his personal gain.”
