Fukushima Update – What’s Happening at Fukushima

radiationUpdate #12 – June 2, 2011

TEPCO announced yesterday that they would begin a live streaming web cam at Fukushima.

It is dark in Japan as I write this and the radioactive steam issuing from the reactor buildings (especially unit 2) makes them wriggle in the dark like strange spirits.

What you are looking at in this new camera view is Unit 1 on the right with just the framework of the top 1/3 of the building remaining and light steam above it,

Then Unit 2 which is partly obscured by quivering steam and by the tower on its right.

Then unit 3 which is mostly a low collapsed hulk.

In the far background, just in front of the 3rd tower, is Unit 4.

You can clearly see the 3 towers.

Every day, Nelle pours over the media and other reports of the status of the reactors at Fukushima, comparing figures and trying to make sense out of the conflicting reports.
