Protect Our Coast in Parksville

July 1 – Noon – Action on Parksville Beach, Vancouver Island on the Beach

We are an organisation called Communities To Protect Our Coast which has been active the last few years opposing the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline. Specifically, our mandate is to oppose crude oil tankers traveling the coast of BC.

On July 1st, we hope to bring out as many people as possible to to the Parksville Beach, in front of Parksville Community Park form a line on the beach that will be the length (345 meters, approximately the length of 3.5  football fields) and breadth (60meters) of one of these large container ships that will enter Douglas Channel to pick up diluted bitumen from the pipeline in  Kitimat.

We have signs to indicate the bow and stern sections. We will be wearing matching lime green T-shirts and unfurling a large Canadian flag in the middle of the tanker image. We will be making a video of our efforts. We hope to gather as many people as possible to join us.
