Cross Border Town Hall on Fossil Fuel Exports in Salish Sea

Victoria, BC, August 20, 2013 – Simultaneous outdoor town hall meetings will be held tomorrow on either side of the Kinder Morgan tar sands tanker route, at Arbutus Cove Park in Saanich, BC, and at Lime Kiln Park on Washington’s San Juan Island. The event will provide information and raise awareness about plans to transform the Salish Sea into a major fossil fuel export corridor, and about the negative impact this shift would have on the marine environment, local economies and the climate.

Local whale watching companies from Victoria and San Juan Island will also be participating in this event, representing local businesses that depend on a vibrant, healthy Salish Sea.
