Smart Meter Resolution

May 31, 2015 – The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) just passed a Resolution petitioning the Premier of British Columbia (the Hon. Christy Clark), the Minister of Health (the Hon. Terry Lake), and the Chief Medical Health Officer for BC (Dr. Perry Kendall) to acknowledge;

·       the real and rapidly increasing dangers of wireless radiation in all forms;

·       and that the current exposure guidelines, i.e. Health Canada’s Safety Code 6, are

o      outdated and inappropriate, and

o      do not adequately protect citizens from serious chronic health effects.

These Itron meters neither UL approved nor CSA certified and, therefore, by the BC Safety Standards Act Sc. 21 (4) they must be certified safe by a professional electrical engineer licensed to work in BC. Fortis refuses to provide this document, raising doubt that installations are legal.

The Resolution requests

·         an immediate halt to mandatory installation of advanced (wireless) utility meters

·         and that all meters recently installed be removed immediately, at full cost to FortisBC.

RDOS Area D Director Tom Siddon authored the Resolution in consultation with Dr. Malcolm Paterson, PhD, whose career in cancer research spanned over 40 years in 5 countries on 3 continents.  Dr. Paterson is known for his leadership as an internationally renowned cancer specialist, and for providing a strong science-based foundation concerning the dangers of the unrestricted proliferation of wireless technology, including smart meters.  He was invited to sign the appeal to the UN for stiffer regulation of wireless technology, with over 200 scientists from 39 nations.
