Opportunity Knocks!

Do you have an expertise and passion for a particular topic? Do you know someone who does? Share it with our readers. Pitch us a feature topic.

Guest editors – individuals or organizations – will bring their perspective and knowledge to a selection of articles, while respecting the philosophy of the WS. They will collate a range of articles, 10 to 12 pages, on a feature focus.

Our standard pages and other articles, as well as design and layout, will be produced in house – guest editors will not be responsible for the entire magazine.

The guest editor will recruit writers, assign word counts and deadlines, and edit to length (using “track changes” in MS Word if possible – ask us for more info on this), including heads, subheads, short bios of the writers, and provide the Watershed Sentinel with files in MS Word. You can view and download our writer’s guidelines here.

Suggested topics might be as scientific as “Logging on Karst through History,” as poetic as “Nature through Song and Poetry,” or as philosophical as “Searching for the New Economy.” We expect guest editors to actively seek out a balanced, diverse slate of writers for the section, in terms of gender, cultural background, and viewpoint.

Whenever possible, the guest editor should provide high-resolution graphics (at least 300 dpi), with captions, for the articles.

References are required. There will be a small budget for use at the editor’s discretion.
